(Washington, DC) – Gephardt Government Affairs, one of Washington's top public affairs firms, has been engaged on a pro bono basis by Global Action for Children (GAC) to assist in government relations strategy on issues that impact the most vulnerable children globally.
GAC has a successful track record of leading a broad coalition of organizations to generate awareness, policies and funding so every child has the chance to grow up safe and healthy. Its partnerships include a spectrum of charitable, faith-based, secular, student and global organizations as well as corporations and universities. GAC approaches advocacy on a non-partisan and independent basis to unite leaders and people who care from all ideologies for all children.
Dick Gephardt, President and CEO of Gephardt Government Affairs commented, "Poverty most severely afflicts children and is the root of the disease, malnutrition, conflict and orphan-hood befalling too many kids worldwide. With the global economic downturn, I am grateful for the opportunity to be a part of Global Action for Children's noble work to ensure that investments from the United States reach the most vulnerable and reduce poverty's toll on children."
Janice O'Connell, who worked for Senator Christopher Dodd (D-CT) for 30 years, most recently on the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, and now leads the international practice at Gephardt Government Affairs stated, "As Congress takes up foreign assistance reform, we look forward to working with GAC to make federal dollars more effective at saving children's lives. Together we can give this global generation the opportunities they need for their futures and ours."
GAC's Executive Director Kathleen Guy commented, "Dick Gephardt is widely recognized for his personal interest in human rights and recognition of the fight against HIV/AIDS as the 'moral imperative of our time.' We have many goals to achieve for kids worldwide and we're thrilled to have the additional support and expertise of the Gephardt team standing with us for the world's children."
