On Friday, June 12, 2009, the Council for American Medical Innovation and The Aspen Institute co-hosted the Best and Brightest Forum on Medical Innovation at the Newseum in Washington, D.C.
The event featured a compelling keynote address by Senator Arlen Specter and two panel discussions that examined the political landscape, the case for new policy, and the economics of medical innovation.
In his opening remarks, Council President Dick Gephardt unveiled the coalition's new policy platform. Several speakers urged the meeting participants to call on Congress to adopt this policy agenda and make medical innovation and scientific discovery a national priority.
